Spectral beam combining gratings for high power Directed Energy applications

2026-07-29

As laser systems advance toward higher power, broader wavelength ranges, and more compact designs, spectral beam combining has emerged as a highly effective method for scaling performance without compromising beam quality. Ibsen’s fused‑silica transmission gratings are at the heart of this approach. These gratings offer a wide usable bandwidth, enabling the integration of multiple laser wavelengths on a single platform. Their passive nature ensures consistently high efficiency without the need for active stabilization, and their robust fused-silica design can withstand extreme power densities of up to 3 MW/cm². Here are the key features of our spectral beam combining gratings: CW

Maximizing Sensitivity and Efficiency with Fused-Silica Transmission Gratings in UV-VIS Spectrometers

2026-05-18

Did you know that fused‑silica transmission gratings can be used for UV-VIS spectroscopy? In many applications, only the UV-region is of interest and typically instruments are designed with reflective blazed or holographic gratings. However, our transmission gratings - etched directly into fused silica - can often outperform all other types of gratings. This plot shows how our 2421 lpmm fused‑silica transmission grating delivers higher diffraction efficiency across the entire UV-region compared to commonly used reflective blazed and holographic gratings. This performance is achieved through a precisely engineered tooth profile and the near‑100% transmission of the thin fused‑silica substrate. Find out about the advantages

The critical role of sensitivity and resolution in Raman spectroscopy

2025-08-19

Sensitivity and resolution are key parameters for spectrometers used in Raman spectroscopy. Since Raman signals are weak, a highly sensitive spectrometer with high throughput is crucial. Resolution on the other hand determines the ability to separate Raman peaks. Higher resolution, however, often comes at the cost of lower sensitivity. Therefore, it is recommended to choose a resolution only slightly higher than the wavenumber separation between closely spaced peaks in the spectra. Discover the full potential of Raman Spectroscopy with Ibsen Photonics, where sensitivity and resolution matters. We offer the world’s best sensitivity, enabled by our in-house Raman manufactured transmission gratings.
