The critical role of sensitivity and resolution in Raman spectroscopy
2025-08-19
Sensitivity and resolution are key parameters for spectrometers used in Raman spectroscopy. Since Raman signals are weak, a highly sensitive spectrometer with high throughput is crucial. Resolution on the other hand determines the ability to separate Raman peaks. Higher resolution, however, often comes at the cost of lower sensitivity. Therefore, it is recommended to choose a resolution only slightly higher than the wavenumber separation between closely spaced peaks in the spectra. Discover the full potential of Raman Spectroscopy with Ibsen Photonics, where sensitivity and resolution matters. We offer the world’s best sensitivity, enabled by our in-house Raman manufactured transmission gratings.

Curious about spectral resolution? In spectrometers, a good resolution allows you to differentiate between different wavelengths and extract meaningful information from your spectral data. But which factors affect resolution, and how do you choose the right resolution for your application? Our white paper, “Spectral resolution – a comprehensive guide,” provides essential information on the factors influencing a spectrometer's spectral resolution. It also guides you in determining the ideal resolution for a range of common types of spectra. This white paper covers the following key topics: Understand how the optical system influences resolution Learn about detector pixel resolution and crosstalk Get

Precise interrogation of FBG sensors optimizes the operation of wind turbines
2025-04-24
Did you know that two-thirds of ocean wind turbines installed today are equipped with Ibsen’s I-MON FBG Interrogation Monitors, enhancing green energy production? Our Interrogation Monitors enable dynamic blade load measurements, which are fed back to the turbine control system for optimum operation. On modern wind turbines, the angle or pitch of the blades is dynamically adjusted to maximize energy acquired from the wind and convert it into electricity, thus generating green energy more efficiently.
