Application Specialist – OEM Spectrometers
The Mission: Help Solve Real-Life Technical Challenges Every Day
Ibsen Photonics is growing rapidly and we are looking for an Application Specialist for our spectrometer business unit in Farum, Denmark.
Our customers are medium to large international instrument manufacturers that integrate our spectrometers into their instruments. The physical interfaces to our products are typically USB and SPI on the electronics side and fiber optics on the optical side. As an Application Specialist one of your primary tasks will be to help our customers with their electronics, software and optics development during integration of our spectrometers.
After an initial training period, you will become responsible for global application support to our customers and sales engineers, and you will help bridge the gap between R&D and sales. You should expect some level of international travel and conference participation.
Key responsibilities:
- Help customers with their electronics, software and optics development during integration of our spectrometers.
- Analysis and trouble-shooting of customer reported issues – including reproduction of the issues in our laboratory.
- Write documentation for best practice use of our products – including coding of small software examples.
- Ensure that our demo products are always fully functional and ready to ship.
- Perform research and write technical notes about new innovative uses of spectrometers.
What you bring
You are a proactive problem-solver who thrives in a “build-test-learn” environment. Ideally, you possess:
- Education: A Master Degree or Ph.D. in Optics, Photonics, Laser Physics, or a related field.
- Expertise: You have experience from working in an optics laboratory added with a good understanding of basic analog and digital electronics. You have a lot of experience with data analysis in for instance Excel or Matlab.
- Software Skills: Experience with hardware-near programming of instruments in C++ (preferably also LabVIEW and Matlab/Python).
- Mindset: You work independently and carefully complete work tasks on time. You have an analytic approach and you are outgoing and knows how (and likes) to communicate with customers.
Why join Ibsen Photonics?
- High Impact: Your input is often urgently requested by our customers, so you will receive instant feedback often several times per day, and good support is highly rewarded by our customers.
- Freedom to operate: We value your drive and input—if you have a better way to solve a problem we present it to the customers.
- Danish Engineering Culture: Enjoy a supportive environment with fast decision-making, real ownership, and a healthy work-life balance.
