Press Release – Copenhagen, September 11th, 2008

Ibsen Photonics has released a 1310 nm version of its PING (polarization independent) telecom gratings

Ibsen Photonics, a leading supplier of holographic Phase masks, fused silica transmission gratings and optical spectrometer modules based on transmission gratings, today announced it’s release of a new 1310 nm band version of it’s PING gratings (Polarization Independent telecom gratings.)

PING-1310 gratings will be produced on an OEM basis to specific customer requirements, but with standard specifications PING-1310 gratings offer >90% diffraction efficiency, <0.25 dB PDL and <0.25 dB WDL – just as the 1550 nm band PING gratings.

Product Manager Kristian Buchwald explains: “Our PING gratings have been rapidly embraced by more applications than we had envisaged, due to both performance and the inherent stability of our fused silica transmission grating technology.” He adds: “This development was done for a specific customer but will have applications in a broad range of products.”

Torben Jacobsen, President and CEO of Ibsen, comments: “In addition to the exciting product development in itself, our high-resolution spectrometer business is boosted by this unique grating – the PING-1310 grating has already been put to use within Ibsen by being incorporated into our 1310 wavelength I-MON FBG Sensor System Interrogation Monitors.”

Ibsen will be presenting its PING and I-MON products at the ECOC exhibition September 22nd-24th, as well as at other important telecom and photonics conferences throughout the year.
